Dear Fairmont Families,
Thank you for your continual daily efforts to minimize the spread of the coronavirus. We will be testing every employee next week to identify anyone who may be positive without any symptoms. The testing will continue periodically until vaccinations have been provided for all.
In light of the pandemic, the staff has decided to not celebrate Valentine's Day in the usual way of having students bring in Valentines to school. We have three groups of students in every class and distributing paper Valentine cards for every student would be problematic. We very much want to encourage and foster friendships and communication between students and realize what an important element socialization is for all of us at this time. While we will not be having parties or distributing Valentines as we have in the past, each grade level will be considering ways to help students connect with each other online and will include alternative and engaging activities for Valentine's Day.
There are many ways to celebrate Valentine's Day at home - maybe "heart attack" a neighbor's front door, write each family member's name on a heart and let everyone write what they love about that person on it, send "love notes" through email to friends and relatives... there are many ideas out there and everyone needs and deserves a little more love. But please, just for this year, do not send Valentines cards to school.
Thank you for understanding,
Mrs. Rex
